Christmas Time at the Pickard's

Christmas has already come and gone and we have been very busy the past week and half. Waylon has had a blast and have taken a lot of pictures, over 100, in the past week, so I figured it was time to blog.
We started our break with making some sugar cookies with Aunt Corty and Gammie. I made three boxes of cookies the night before for 2 hours and they actually turned out ok for my first time making them. Then the next day we all frosted them and decorated them too. Of course Waylon helped me smash some candy canes and then he had to test one cookie. So I gave him a really big one and luckily he did not get sick, but he did not ask for more either. ;-)

Then we were off to lots of parties and family gatherings for Christmas. The first party we went to was one we have gone to the past three years and I enjoy it because Santa shows up. Last year, Waylon was not ok with Santa. This year, he was totally into it. In fact he was one of the first to go and see him, and he kept asking Santa, "but where are your reindeer at, Santa?" Too cute, he got a transformer truck and a gift card from Santa and love it.

We also spent a lot of time with family on Christmas Eve. We first went to my Uncle's Gallery, which is beautiful for thier party. It was fun, and Waylon got some presents from Papa and Grandma and they were a huge hit. Then we went to Papa Waylon and Grandma D's house for Grandma Pam's birthday. This was a lot of fun to watch all the boys play together and see them all get caught up in the excitement of Christmas. I truly loved this Christmas it was magical.

That night made sure that we put out some food for the reindeer and cookies and milk for Santa too. We even sprinkled some oats and glitter in the front yard so they could all find us. Waylon did amazing on Christmas Eve, he did not get up once and was soon fast asleep.

Christmas Day was just as busy... It was just so amazing to Waylon that Santa had come while he was asleep and none of us saw or heard him. He was also so shocked that he brought him a fire truck and a police car just like he had asked! It was hard for Waylon to pull away from his toys this year, but we were off to Gammie's for breakfast and more gifts. Gammie's house was just as much fun as Waylon walked out with more toys to play with. Always fun!!! Then the last stop for the day was the Pickard's. We tried to do a nap, but the excitement was just too much so we kept on having fun. More food and more gifts!!! By about 6 we were spent and ready to head home. Waylon fell asleep on the way home, and after a warm bath and a little bit of a struggle, he was asleep about 8:30 or so.

We hope that you all had a Merry Christmas and were happy to see many of you! May your new year be wonderful and safe!

Love,

The Pickard's

Big Boy Bed

Well Waylon is officially in his big boy bed! I do not know why this transition is so much harder for me than it is for him, but it is. No matter what he will always be my baby even if he is a big boy!

Yesterday Jake and I spend a good part of our day getting Waylon's room all ready while he was spending a fun day with Grandma and Grandpa! We put all kinds of stickers and a border up in his room, all Lightening McQueen themed. He even got a new table in his room too. We knew he would just love it.

I had originally picked out big boy stuff over a year ago when Mervyn's was going out of buisness to match his nursery theme of planes. I should have know that was not a life time theme but we got the new stuff cheaper than the other items and we also have a back up. I am sure we will need another set in a few more months when it comes to another big transition of potty training. Now that is one transition I will be very ok with!

When Waylon came home yesterday he was thrilled and so shocked to see all of his stuff in his new room. Soon it was time for bed, he did great. Daddy laid in the bed with him for about a half an hour or so and then we let him be. Told him, no wondering around and that he still needed to call for us if he needed us. After we put him down at 8 around 9:15-9:30 I think he finally fell asleep. He did great!!! Me on the other hand did horriable. I was listening all night and the fact that his yucky cough is coming back a little again did not help last night. I heard every time he moved or coughed last night. He woke up this morning at his normal time and called for us and had a great big smile on his face when I went to go and get him. He said, "Daddy loves me I did so good in my big boy bed." I told him we were very proud of him.

One great night down and many more to go! Here is to my official big boy!

Yippee Skippy 84% Savings!!

A great trip to Basha's! I feel bad I do not go here often, because they are a local store, but when I do go then I feel bad again because I feel like I am stealing from them. Oh well, I got some great buys today. Today's trip would not have been possible without the extra coupon inserts I am getting from my mom and from my school. That is why I have 3 or more of all these items..

Here is the break down:

Skippy Peanut Butter on sale for $1.58 each I had 3 coupons for $0.50 off which were matched to a dollar leaving them at $0.58 each...so I spent $1.74 on 3 of them...that is usually the price of one!
Smart Taste Pasta was on sale for $0.88 each. I had 2 coupons for $1.00 of 2 making 4 of them making 4 of them $0.38 each- then I had another coupon that was in todays paper for $0.75 off one which was matched to the $0.88 to make one of them free.

In a nut shell with my card savings from Basha's I saved $11.68 Coupons I used $5.88 and my out of pocket cost was only $3.40!!!! = 84% savings....Yippee Skippy!!!
